On February 5th 2017, Super 51 was held with the Atlanta Falcons vs. New England Patriots facing off in Houston Texas. For the New England Patriots, this was their 6th Super Bowl with Tom Brady as their quarterback and Bill Belichick as the head coach. While in Atlanta, this was their second Super Bowl appearance since 1998. Having a chance to win their first Super Bowl in franchise history.
On the opening kickoff both teams were scoreless in the first quarter until the Falcons turned on the jets and scored 21 points. Until the Patriots were able to make a field goal before half-time. Making the game, 21-3, heavily leaning toward the Falcons winning it all.
But once Brady and the Patriots came out of the locker room, it seemed they were ready to make the ultimate comeback. After the Falcons added another touchdown to their lead, it became a 25 point game for the Patriots. No team in the Super Bowl history had ever come back from a 14 point deficit. That is until the Patriots came back from a 25 point lead.
Brady did not have his best game, but he hit his receivers when it mattered the most. The turning point of this game was when Julian Edelman made a ridiculous circus catch, leading them into over time. Where the Patriots received the ball and scored the game winning TD.
The Patriots became the first team to come back from a 25 point deficit. It was the first over time in Super Bowl history. Brady passed Joe Montana with the most Super Bowl wins, with his fifth win, by a quarterback.
This Super Bowl win adds to the dynasty Belichick and Brady started in 2001.
