Rethinking all the Drinking

Some teenagers who repeatedly drink alcohol are unaware of the many dangers that go along with drinking.. On social media sites in general, you often see people participating in underage drinking. Along with the detrimental health effects that can come with drinking, there are sometimes consequences for the innocent as well. Car crashes due to alcohol impaired driving are a very common cause of death in the United States.

Many teens drink because they succumb to peer pressure. It is very likely that someone will be enticing another to just take “one drink”. It is also very likely that they don’t know what they’re getting themselves into; addiction to alcohol is very common. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there were 88,000 deaths each year from 2006-2010 due to excessive alcohol consumption.

With the widespread use of social media, alcohol consumption has become more popular among teenagers. This allows for parents to remain oblivious to the alcohol consumption. However, even if all these messages go unnoticed, people should warn them about the dangers of underage drinking.

If teenagers were warned about all the consequences of alcohol consumption from an early age, occurrences of underaged drinking would most likely not be so common.

When you consume alcohol, you’re putting yourself and other in harms way. Why would you risk your life and the lives of the innocent?
